Kerala Legislative Assembly golden jubilee memorial museum, located within the Legislative assembly complex at Palayam, was inaugurated in April 2013, by speaker K. Radhakrishnan. Built as a memorial to the Father of our Nation, the museums would promote the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi. Legislative museum houses more than 100 rare pictures, extensive collection of audio and video materials, a visual display on the life and vision of Gandhiji and a video on the history of the legislative process in the State. The museum was intended to help the young generation to know more about the life and work of Mahatma Gandhi. Legislative museumalso has a research centre, library and mini theatre with LCD projectors and touch screen facilities.
The old Travancore Army headquarters, located inside the Legislative Assembly campus, has been converted into a full-fledged Legislature museum. The old assembly hall inside the Secretariat was converted to legislature museum and though this building is located within the complex it is branched out from the Niyamasabha Mandiram. Occasionally mock assemblies are conducted in the museum to train students about legislature process. Though there is not much to see, we can learn about the growth of the legislature in Kerala from the various photos and other objects and art works displayed here.
